Prep Pupils Successfully Secure Funding for New DT Laser Machine

Reggie, Benjamin, Digby and Albert were invited to present their proposal to Jon Coles, Chair of the OA Club, making the case for why the new equipment would be a worthwhile investment and deserving of support from the OAs.

The boys carefully prepared their pitch, outlining how a laser machine would enhance learning opportunities within the DT Department, support a wider range of creative projects and provide pupils with access to industry-relevant technology. They explained how the machine would benefit current and future pupils, helping to develop design, problem-solving and manufacturing skills.

Presenting confidently and professionally, the pupils put forward a compelling argument and answered questions thoughtfully, demonstrating both their enthusiasm for the project and their understanding of its potential impact.

Their presentation proved a success, with the OA Club agreeing to fund the purchase of the new laser machine.

The new equipment will bring exciting opportunities to DT lessons moving forward. Pupils will be able to design and create more sophisticated products, transforming their digital designs into accurate, professionally finished models and prototypes. The machine will also allow for greater creativity, increased independence in the design process and the opportunity to explore modern manufacturing techniques used in industry.

The achievement is a fantastic example of pupil initiative in action, with Reggie, Benjamin, Digby and Albert taking ownership of a real project and developing valuable communication and leadership skills along the way.
