The Prep Difference
What makes King’s Prep so special?
Our wonderful location in breathtaking countryside at the foot of the Quantocks allows our pupils to enjoy all the freedom and fresh air of the great outdoors.
This is a school alive with energy, warmth, and laughter. Here, children are free to explore, discover, and develop into their best selves, supported by expert teaching and exceptional pastoral care.
Boarding is at the heart of our community, providing a warm, home-from-home environment where friendships flourish – helped along by our much-loved school dog, Snoops!

“A genuinely lovely prep school with well-mannered and well-rounded pupils who achieve great things across a fabulously broad range of disciplines without seeming arrogant or elitist. A wonderful start to any child’s educational experience.”

Prep School Stories
As a Woodard School, every child is known and valued as an individual here.
Our outstanding teachers nurture talent, adapting their approach to ensure that each pupil reaches their full potential, whether in the classroom, on the sports field, or through the arts. With specialist support always available, there are no barriers to success.
Above all we foster confidence, creativity, and a lifelong love of learning. That’s why most of our pupils continue their educational journey at King’s College Taunton, reflecting the strength of our all-through education.

EQUESTRIAN CENTRE
Having our own Equestrian Centre so close to the College site is a wonderful privilege.
This unique asset brings a range of benefits for our pupils, from beginners to advanced riders. Here, our BHS-approved professional coaches help pupils to foster a love of horses and equestrian sports alike.
PUPIL COUNCIL
The King’s College Prep Pupil Council is a formal group of pupils who have been elected by their peers to represent them and their views. The group is overseen by Pupil Council Coordinator Karen Foster, and regularly meets to discuss fundraising ideas and important school issues.
Over the past year, pupils have worked hard on a number of fundraising campaigns, each of which have been highly successful. In September 2018, the Council organised for all Year 6 pupils to wear their finest denim in support of the nationwide Jeans for Genes campaign. Not long after, and proving that actions speak louder than words, the group helped to organise a major fundraising campaign in aid of Bristol Children’s Hospital. Most recently, the whole school community joined forces for two charity park runs in aid of the WESC foundation, a specialist day and residential centre for adults and young people living with visual impairment.
