It was a pleasure to host our annual Prep School Athletics Day, welcoming young athletes from across the South region for an afternoon of fun competition.
Pupils from Chard Prep School, The Downs Preparatory School, Hazlegrove Preparatory School, Mount Kelly, Perrott Hill Prep School, and King’s College Prep came together to take part in a full programme of track and field events. The day provided an opportunity for pupils to challenge themselves, represent their schools and enjoy competing alongside their peers.
Throughout the afternoon, competitors took part in a range of disciplines, including hurdles, javelin, high jump, long jump, relays, middle distance races and sprints.
There was plenty of determination on show, but what stood out most was the positive and supportive atmosphere throughout. Pupils encouraged one another from the sidelines as much as they competed on the track and field, creating a genuinely friendly and inclusive environment.
The relay races were a particular highlight, with teams working together and drawing enthusiastic support from the crowd.
There were numerous individual and team successes across the competition, reflecting the high standard of participation from all schools involved with medals and cups awarded to those who placed first, second and third in their events.
We extend our thanks to all participating schools for travelling to King’s and contributing to such a successful and enjoyable event. The day combined competitive athletics with a relaxed, sociable atmosphere, with pupils and parents able to spend time together as well as compete and enjoy afternoon tea and ice cream.
We look forward to welcoming schools back next year as this popular fixture in the prep school sporting calendar continues to grow.
