Lower Sixth pupil Brodie D continued his impressive rise in hockey with a standout performance for the Scotland Emerging squad at the Six Nations tournament over the Easter break, where he also shared captaincy duties.
Competing against strong international opposition, Scotland delivered a series of competitive performances. They opened with a 3–3 draw against England before facing a narrow 2–1 defeat to the Netherlands. In that match, Scotland had taken the lead through an early goal from Brodie, only to concede a late winner nine minutes from time. The squad bounced back in style with a convincing 4–0 victory over Canada Under-18s.
In the third/fourth place play-off, Scotland faced Poland Under-18s, where Brodie’s individual performance was recognised with the Man of the Match award, underlining his influence throughout the tournament.
Brodie’s performances at the tournament mark another significant milestone in what has been a rapid progression through the Scottish hockey pathway. Having first impressed selectors during a late assessment within the junior national programme, he earned a place in the Scottish Emerging Player Programme and has continued to build on that momentum with a series of high-quality displays on the international stage.
At King’s College, Brodie is a key member of the Boys’ 1st XI and part of the College’s High Performance Programme, where he continues to develop his game. His recent experiences captaining and representing Scotland at this level will undoubtedly contribute to his ongoing growth as a player.
His progress remains one to watch as he continues to represent both school and country with distinction.
