King’s pupils delivered an outstanding performance at the National Schools Biathle Championships 2026, held at Leweston School, returning with an impressive total of 18 medals across individual and team events.
Competing against athletes from across the country, pupils from Year 4 through to Year 8 demonstrated exceptional ability and determination. Their success reflects not only their talent but also the strength of the training and opportunities available within the school.
Preparation plays a key role in this success. Regular training on the King’s Loop has helped pupils to build both pace and endurance in their running, while weekly swimming sessions ensure they develop strong technique and confidence in the water. In addition, participation in Pentathlon hobby run by Director of Sport Pixie Foad provides valuable transition practice between disciplines, a crucial component of success in biathle competition.
Beyond the medal tally, the team spirit shown throughout the event was particularly striking. The King’s team supported one another through each race, with constant encouragement and camaraderie evident throughout the competition. This positive and resilient mindset contributed significantly to the team’s overall success and made the experience especially memorable for all involved.
The school extends its thanks to Director of Sport, Mrs Foad, and Miss O’Dell, whose support played an integral role in the team’s achievements.
This remarkable performance highlights both the depth of talent within King’s and the effectiveness of its sporting provision, providing pupils with the opportunity to develop, compete and excel at a national level
