Our U15 boys’ cricket team has once again claimed the National Schools T20 title, following a dominant performance at the prestigious finals day held at Arundel Castle Cricket Ground in Sussex.
The team began the day with a semi-final clash against Epsom School, winning the toss and electing to bat. They posted a strong total of 171, led by an excellent 58 from Hugo B and a crucial 35 not out from Jasper B. In response, Epsom were restricted to 156, thanks to a superb all-round performance from Hugo B, who added 3 wickets to his tally, and Brendon C, who contributed with 2 wickets through his leg spin.
Relentless Performance in the Final
In the final, the boys faced Shrewsbury School, a familiar opponent in national competitions. Shrewsbury won the toss and chose to bat, but our bowlers were relentless from the outset. Early breakthroughs from Freddie T, another 3 wickets from Hugo B, and tight spells from Brendon C and George C, who took 2 wickets for minimal runs, saw Shrewsbury bowled out for 128.
Our batters then sealed the victory in style, chasing down the target in just 14 overs with only one wicket down. Theo L and Hugo B both scored impressive half-centuries, showcasing composure and class under pressure.
A Summer of Cricketing Success
This resounding win marks another chapter of success for our cricket programme and adds to the silverware already secured by our girls’ team, who won the National Plate competition earlier this summer.
Congratulations to all players and coaches involved, a fantastic achievement and a proud moment for the school!
