Fifteen aspiring netball players from King’s College, Taunton, and King’s College Prep have been selected for the prestigious Somerset Player Development Programme (PDP), marking a significant achievement in their sporting journeys.
The Somerset Player Development Pathway is a highly competitive programme that identifies and nurtures emerging netball talent across the county, offering young athletes the opportunity to advance through the sport’s development pathway.
The selection process for the PDP is intense, with young players from a range of clubs and schools across Somerset competing for a limited number of spots. To make the cut, athletes are evaluated on key attributes such as game sense, technical ability, attitude, and work rate. Despite the tough competition, 15 King’s College pupils stood out for their exceptional talent and commitment.
Zoe Ashman, head of netball at King’s College, said: “Being selected for the Somerset Player Development Pathway is a huge achievement.
“We’re incredibly proud of these girls, who have shown not only amazing skill but also the dedication and work ethic required to succeed at the highest levels.”
Players Sienna J, Ffion K, Natasha D, Tilly H, Isobel M, Netty C, Emma S, were selected for the under-15s programme, with players for the under-13s including Pippa R, Grace C, Madeline H, Jessica M, Channah M, Anna K, and Thea H. Players Brooke W and Harper W additionally secured a place on the Team Bath franchise pathway, which is an extraordinary achievement.
To achieve this level of success, King’s College offers more than just regular team training. Athletes benefit from tailored development opportunities, including small-group and individual sessions with the coaching team, focusing on refining skills, boosting confidence, and deepening game understanding. This approach, aligned with England Netball’s development pillars, ensures every athlete receives the support needed to reach their full potential.
With a proven track record of success and a focus on individual development, King’s College celebrates its commitment to excellence in netball across the region.
