This half term a team of lower Sixth Physicists competed in the British Physics Olympiad. The British Physics Olympiad (BPhO) is an annual competition that recognises excellence in young physicists through a series of ten UK based competitions.
Founded in 1979, the Olympiad is incredibly challenging, the questions cannot be revised in advance and pupils must solve unseen problems through the application of knowledge and skill.
This national competition is entered by the strongest pupils studying physics from schools across the country and this year competition was fierce. Over 7200 pupils participated across the country, and we were delighted that all six King’s College pupils received top awards:
Gold Awards: Riana T, who was in the top 3% of entries and Audrey T in the top 8%.
- Silver Awards: Wilf G and Isaac M
- Bronze Award: Primrose P
The gold award winners ranked in the top 9% overall and the Silver award winners placed in the top 20% of entrants nationwide, an incredible achievement in a highly competitive field.
Congratulations to all the pupils who took part, we are so proud of your dedication and hard work.
