King’s Extends Somerset County Cricket Partnership, Reinforcing Our Status as a National Leader in School Cricket

King’s College, Taunton is widely acknowledged as one of the nation’s leading cricket schools and a global powerhouse in the sport. We are pleased to announce the continuation of our long‑standing partnership with Somerset County Cricket Club into 2026, further building on a rich history of shared success and outstanding cricketing development.

The partnership preserves and strengthens a relationship described by Somerset CCC as “long-standing and mutually beneficial,” reflecting the deep links that have been forged over decades between two organisations committed to excellence in player development.

One of the region’s most highly regarded education providers, King’s College is also a designated Centre of Cricketing Excellence and has produced a number of Somerset players over the years including Jos Buttler, Alex Barrow, Tom Banton, Will Smeed, Sonny Baker, James Rew, Thomas Rew, Eddie Byrom, Nathan Gilchrist, George Thomas, Josh Thomas, Finn Hill and Erin Vukusic.

A Partnership Built for the Future

Throughout 2026, King’s College and Somerset CCC will continue to work closely on initiatives designed to support pupils and young players. Somerset CCC will contribute to enhanced sports‑career guidance and further opportunities for King’s pupils to explore professional pathways in the sports industry.

As part of the ongoing agreement, King’s College will continue to sponsor former pupils Erin Vukusic, Tom Banton and James Rew for the 2026 season.

This builds on the school’s history of sponsoring both male and female Somerset players.

King’s College continues to be recognised for its exceptional track record in producing professional cricketers and supporting pupils to reach elite levels. Last year’s announcement highlighted that King’s has “arguably the most successful track record of producing professional cricketers in recent years,” reflecting the school’s position at the forefront of cricket education nationwide.

King’s continues to invest in high‑quality coaching, top‑level facilities and wide‑ranging outreach programmes, including partnerships with the MCC Hub and local state schools, helping expand access to cricket across Somerset.
