On Monday, a team of four pupils from King’s College, Taunton and King’s College Prep represented the schools at the UKMT Team Maths Challenge National Final, held at The Royal Horticultural Halls in London. This prestigious event brought together the top-performing teams from across the UK after months of qualifying rounds.
The team, made up of Third Formers Emma M and Archie J, and with Year 8 pupils Jinesh A and Oscar LH, earned their place by winning their regional heat earlier in the year. In the lead-up to the final, they dedicated themselves to weeks of focused preparation and collaborative problem-solving.
The competition featured a range of advanced mathematical challenges, including a group problem-solving task, a crossnumber round, an intense relay, and the creation of a poster on the geometry of plants. These tasks tested not only mathematical skill but also logic, teamwork, and resilience under pressure.
Despite the tough competition, our pupils performed brilliantly, showcasing their talent and composure on a national stage. The event also provided a valuable opportunity to connect with fellow maths enthusiasts from across the country.
We are incredibly proud of the team’s achievement and the way they represented King’s, showcasing their passion for mathematics. Congratulations to all four pupils!
