Fresh from the international stage, King’s Prep pupils Bella, Rufus and Pip have returned from the 2025 World Biathle, Triathle and Laser Run Championships, where they competed against world-class young athletes in a demanding programme of biathle, triathle, triathlon and laser run events.
The World Championships took place in Mossel Bay, South Africa, earlier in the month bringing together nearly 900 athletes of all ages. Competitors faced demanding challenges across running, swimming and laser pistol shooting, testing endurance, focus and versatility at the highest level.
Bella delivered an outstanding performance across the demanding week of competition, racing in multiple disciplines. She qualified for the biathle final from a field of 64 athletes, finishing 12th overall, before placing 15th in the final despite extremely challenging sea conditions. She went on to place 12th in the triathle final, contributing to a team silver medal, before finishing third in her laser run semi-final heat.
Bella’s championships concluded with an outstanding fifth-place finish in the laser run final, where she also played a key role in helping the Great Britain team secure gold.
Pip also produced a series of composed and focused performances throughout the championships, reflecting the discipline and maturity he brings to both his sport and his school life. Balancing a demanding training schedule alongside his academic commitments, Pip approached each event with calm determination, qualifying for the biathle final with a tenth-place finish in his heat before going on to place 20th overall. He followed this with another strong showing in the triathle straight final, once again finishing 20th in a highly competitive field.
Year 5 pupil Rufus showed tremendous courage competing on the world stage for the first time, approaching his biathle final with confidence and composure. Executing his race strategy with maturity beyond his years, he delivered a strong and determined performance against a highly competitive international field, finishing 29th overall. Months of dedicated training and preparation were clearly evident, as Rufus rose to the challenge and represented his country, and King’s with confidence, resilience and pride.
As Year 5 and Year 7 pupils, Rufus, Pip and Bella have shown an impressive ability to balance demanding training schedules alongside their schoolwork, while competing with confidence on the world stage. Their maturity, commitment and determination sets a powerful example for their peers, and we are immensely proud of the way they have represented King’s.
Together these results reflect not only the pupils’ athletic ability but also their resilience, commitment and mental strength in challenging conditions, including intense heat and difficult sea swims.
