On Friday, a talented team of 15 King’s pupils – nine from the College and six from King’s Prep – competed in the South West Schools Pistol Shooting Qualifier, part of the prestigious British Shooting Schools Pistol Championships.
This national competition is one of the UK’s leading youth shooting events, designed to encourage participation and identify talent in the Olympic discipline of 10m Air Pistol. It features individual and team events across Junior, Intermediate, and Senior age categories, with mixed gender and ability, culminating in a shoulder-to-shoulder National Final early next year.
The event saw outstanding performances across all age groups, with King’s teams securing impressive placings and setting themselves up for potential qualification to the national finals next term.
The Junior teams delivered outstanding performances at the South West qualifier, with the Junior teams finishing 2nd and 4th out of 14 teams. The Intermediate team claimed 2nd place, supported by excellent individual results from William T, who finished 2nd, and Sam M, who placed 4th. The Senior team also excelled, taking 2nd place overall, with Sophie McK achieving an impressive 4th individually. These results put King’s in a strong position for potential qualification to the National Finals, which will take place at Chase Leisure Centre in Staffordshire.
Congratulations to all our shooters for their skill, focus, and determination. We look forward to seeing what they can achieve at the national stage!
