King’s is delighted to announce the appointment of Keith Parsons as Head of Girls’ Cricket, marking an exciting new chapter for the school’s thriving cricket programme.
Keith has enjoyed a distinguished professional career with Somerset and the Unicorns, and brings a wealth of experience and passion to the role. Since joining King’s four years ago, he has worked closely with the Head of Cricket, Rob Woodman, to deliver outstanding results, including national successes for both boys’ and girls’ teams.
Reflecting on his appointment, Keith said:
“I am thrilled to be given this opportunity to lead Girls’ Cricket here at King’s. It has been great to work with Rob Woodman on the cricket programme for the last four years and see incredible national successes in both the boys’ and girls’ teams. The number of girl cricketers continues to grow, and I see it as my role to both increase participation further and push elite performers onto the next level.
I was lucky enough to have a long professional playing career, and there are now such wonderful chances to enter the professional game after King’s College. I am confident we can develop some of our players to follow the likes of Erin Vukusic to perform at this level.
I expect to continue learning the differences required to get the best out of the girls, but I am confident as a coach to help every player develop and improve their game through challenging, enjoyable sessions in the fantastic facilities we have here at King’s. With girls from all over the UK and beyond coming to King’s, the potential to further enhance our cricketing reputation is huge.”
Director of Sport Phil Lewis added:
“We are delighted to appoint Keith to this new role, following the outstanding work Rob Woodman has done with both the boys’ and girls’ programmes over the past few years. Our cricket programme continues to grow, and as we attract more talented cricketers from across the country, we remain committed to leading the way in the quality of what we offer.
We are also delighted to have recently appointed Jo-Leigh Roberts as our Girls’ Performance Cricket Coach to support Keith. Since joining us, Keith has made an excellent impact on the programme, and we are confident he is the perfect person to take our girls’ cricket provision to the next level. We aim to increase participation both during their time at King’s and beyond, expand the breadth and volume of fixtures, develop more future professional players, and build on our recent national cup successes.”
Keith’s appointment underlines King’s commitment to providing exceptional opportunities for young cricketers. We wish Keith good luck in his new role, and look forward to the expertise and enthusiasm he will bring to our girls’ cricket programme.
