We are delighted to announce the completion and upcoming official opening of our new Junior Common Room, a thoughtfully designed space where pupils in the Third, Fourth and Fifth Form can relax and socialise together. The opening of the Junior Common Room marks an exciting start to the summer term and has been designed and built to enhance the day‑to‑day experience of our pupils.
One of the defining strengths of the Junior Common Room is its flexibility. With glass doors opening directly onto the surrounding playing fields, the space transforms during the summer months into a lively indoor‑outdoor hub. Ideal for film and DJ nights, house events and informal socialising, it adapts seamlessly to different uses across the year. This versatility ensures the Common Room will be well used, well loved, and firmly embedded at the heart of our pupil experience.
On Saturdays it also provides a welcoming setting for match teas following sports fixtures, giving parents and supporters a comfortable place to gather, relax and enjoy refreshments while watching school sport.
We are deeply grateful to our parent community and Old Aluredians, whose generous support helped bring this project to life. The project demonstrates a shared commitment to continuing to enrich King’s pupils experience at school. We look forward to seeing it become a popular place to relax, connect and enjoy.
