King’s is celebrating a remarkable milestone in its sporting history as both the U14 and U16 netball teams have secured places at the Regional Tournament, an unprecedented achievement for the school.
The County Tournament saw both squads deliver outstanding performances, demonstrating not only technical skill but also resilience, teamwork, and leadership. Their success marks the first time King’s has had both age groups qualify for Regionals in the same year, a testament to the strength and depth of our netball programme.
The U16 team impressed from the outset, dominating their pool with emphatic wins over King’s Bruton (17–2), Taunton School (12–3), Queen’s College (15–0), and Wellington (14–4). Despite a tough loss to Millfield (7–14), the team’s overall performance was more than enough to secure their spot at Regionals.
Every player contributed meaningfully throughout the tournament, with the squad’s cohesion and determination shining through in every match. Leading the team was Captain Sienna J, supported by Vice Captain Ffion K, both of whom played pivotal roles in maintaining focus and energy across the day.
Player of the Tournament was awarded to Netty C, whose defensive brilliance stood out. Playing up a year, Netty delivered a series of crucial interceptions and turnovers, effectively neutralising opposition attacks and helping to secure key victories.
Not to be outdone, the U14 team also delivered a stellar performance in their County Tournament campaign. They cruised through the pool stages with wins against Wellington (14–2), Wells Cathedral (12–2), and Westfield Academy (12–3), before edging past Taunton School in a nail-biting semi-final (8–7). In the final, they fought hard against Millfield, ultimately falling short in a close 5–8 contest.
Led by Captain Pippa R and Vice Captain Clemmie LT, the team showed exceptional composure, particularly in high-pressure moments. Alba D was named Player of the Tournament for her outstanding defensive work and seamless transitions into attack, which proved instrumental in the team’s overall success.
We are so proud that both teams have made it through to the Regional stages, marking the first time King’s has had both age groups qualify in the same year. An outstanding achievement for the school, which showcases the quality of our netball programme.
