We are proud to announce that King’s College, Taunton has been shortlisted as one of only 6 finalists for The Independent School of the Year For The South of England, placing us among the most respected and high-achieving independent schools across the region. This nationwide awards programme is designed to showcase the achievements of Independent schools across the UK, and more than 1000 entries were submitted for various categories.
This recognition is a powerful endorsement of the exceptional pupil experience on offer at King’s and is a reflection of the impact our school continues to make, not just in Somerset, but across the wider South. To be named alongside some of the most prestigious schools in the country is a moment of pride for our entire community.
The South of England is home to many outstanding independent schools, and this award celebrates those that go beyond academic excellence to offer a truly enriched and purposeful education. At King’s, we are proud to be the only Somerset-based finalist, standing shoulder to shoulder with institutions renowned for their heritage, innovation, and pupil outcomes.
This shortlisting acknowledges the strength of our values, the breadth of our opportunities, and the way our location at the foot of the Quantock Hills enhances every aspect of school life, from sport and outdoor education to academic achievement and community engagement.
We are deeply honoured by this recognition and grateful to our pupils, staff, alumni, and wider community who make King’s the extraordinary place it is. Being named a finalist is not just a celebration of what we’ve achieved, it’s a reflection of the vibrant, forward-thinking environment we continue to build every day.
