Prep (Ages 7-13)

Limited Places Available for September 2024 Entry

If you're still to make a decision about where to start your child’s schooling, have you considered King’s College Pre-Prep? We have some limited availability for admissions this September.

Rugby at King's Hall

Rugby at King’s Hall starts with the six and seven year old boys playing a tag version of the game. Tag rugby continues with the next age group and then contact rugby starts with the eight and nine year olds.

Matches against other schools start with the seven and eight year olds and then, in accordance with the RFU Continuum, we have a comprehensive fixture list stretching up to our top team, the 1st XV.

Girls are given the opportunity to play contact rugby during Saturday activities.

Coaching & Rugby Tours

The Year 8 boys go on a rugby tour every other year to France, but have also traveled to Barcelona and had a terrific time. Coaches and Sixth Form boys from King's College regularly help with games sessions, and many of our boys are members of our two local clubs Taunton RFC and Wellington RFC, so have extra coaching and matches on Sundays.

Every year four or five boys from the 1st XV are selected to play for the Somerset Prep Schools XV and some are selected to play for the South West Barbarians XV. We have had two Year 8 boys who went on and played for the England Under 13 Barbarians XV, and we regularly have success in Rugby Sevens tournaments.

Each year we also enter the National Prep Schools' Rugby Sevens Tournament held in London. Pupils in Year 7 are offered the opportunity to train for this March event whilst Year 8 boys train and compete. They have three to four tournaments during the Lent Term.
