exciting and seamless transition.

Joining King’s at 4

A childhood paradise, our Pre-Prep pupils are part of the Prep School, based in a superb Georgian country house on the edge of the Quantock Hills. The school is set on a 50-acre estate – including 30 acres of playing fields – and is surrounded by National Trust farmland, yet we are within a mile of Taunton town centre.

Starting school is a big step, and at King’s, we make it an exciting and seamless transition. Our Reception classes provide a dynamic and nurturing environment where four-year-olds develop essential skills through play, exploration, and structured learning.

With a focus on creativity, communication, and personal growth, we ensure that every child gains the confidence and enthusiasm to thrive in their early education.

Starting at Kings

If your child is joining us from September, you will be invited to attend a welcome event during the preceding summer term. Your child will also have the opportunity to spend a morning in their current year group, and an afternoon meeting their new teacher with the rest of the incoming class. Parents will able to attend a presentation from our Head of Pre-Prep and talk to the class teachers.

The welcome event is a great opportunity to meet current parents and parents of the new class and to become part of the social network. You also receive printed information with the essential information for September.

For in-year joiners, your child will usually attend a taster or welcome day and the class teacher will communicate directly with parents to ensure they have all the information they need.
