We are delighted to announce the appointment of Pixie Foad as Director of Sport for both King's College and King's College Prep School from September 2024.

Pixie, who is currently Director of Sport at King’s College Prep, brings close to 20 years of experience to this newly expanded position at King’s, gained from teaching at both Prep and Senior level within a range of independent schools in the South West. Pixie will build on the achievements of the current postholder, Phil Lewis, who continues as Assistant Head (Co-curricular) at the College.

Commenting on the role, Pixie said: “I am thrilled to be expanding my remit to Director of Sport across the whole of King’s. To oversee King’s pupils' journeys from when they start in the Nursery right up to when they leave at 18 years old is a privilege I don’t take lightly. Sport and all that it brings to young people’s lives is invaluable on so many levels, whether they are looking to pursue a career in elite sport, be a competitive amateur or enjoy the many, many lifelong benefits it brings us all”.

Pixie enjoyed and competed in a wide range of sports throughout her youth, spending much time on the hockey pitch, hours in the swimming pool, and travelling miles competing horses. She is also a dedicated parent to two children who are thriving at King's College and making the most of their own sports development.

This combination of her professional and personal experiences, in parallel with her genial and ambitious nature, means that she is able to bring a deep understanding of how to maximise the benefits of a range of different sports for different personalities across all age groups. Pixie added: “I believe King's offers some of the best sporting opportunities available, framed in the holistic, inclusive and individually aspirational experience that makes a King’s education so fulfilling. I look forward to collaborating with pupils, colleagues, parents and the wider school community to create an even more inspiring and supportive environment where every student can excel”.

King's College Headmaster, Michael Sloan, commented: "I am delighted to appoint Pixie Foad as the new Director of Sport. From an incredibly strong field, Pixie stood out as a superb leader, with a passion for nurturing and developing young people; she is dynamic, tenacious and will work hard to build on the King’s College tradition of excellence by challenging top-tier athletes, while also encouraging participation from all pupils. This dual focus aims to stretch those striving for competitive success, and support those who wish to engage in sports for enjoyment, confidence and personal growth. I congratulate her again on a thoroughly well-deserved appointment!"

Current Director of Sport at King’s College, Phil Lewis, commented: “Pixie will provide superb continuity for our sporting provision at King’s, with oversight from our younger years at the Prep, all the way through to Sixth Form at the College. I know Pixie will be an outstanding role model for all of our pupils at King’s, and I look forward to working closely with Pixie when she starts her new role in September.”
