About King's

King's Schools
King's College is part of King’s Schools, Taunton along with its prep school King's Hall. The schools provide continuous day and boarding education for girls and boys aged 2 to 18 years.
King’s College has approximately 470 pupils from 13 to 18, while King’s Hall School has approximately 300 children from 2 to 13.
Inspiring teaching, superb facilities, and our nurturing of individual potential combine to create an environment in which young people achieve great things.

Our strong boarding ethos is central to the success of King’s College. The fact that so many pupils and staff live on site creates a strong sense of community. The school is small enough to be friendly and yet large enough to compete nationally.
As well as being an exceptionally happy school, we are busy and purposeful. Our pupils leave here very well qualified, but more importantly they leave as well-rounded, balanced individuals, who have been nurtured and encouraged to grow, to develop and explore.

A good work ethic and small class sizes help sustain progress, and specialist teaching is the norm. There is great emphasis placed on developing the individual: kindness, consideration, courtesy and respect for one another. The outstanding modern facilities and stunning locations ensure that children enjoy a challenging all-round education in a progressive, secure and stimulating environment.

Pupils work hard, following a traditional curriculum, strong on rigour and the challenging academic subjects, taught by teachers chosen for their deep knowledge of the subject and their infectious enthusiasm. They instil a natural love of learning and, as a result, 98% of pupils at King’s College go on to university, many to Oxford and Cambridge and other top UK universities, some to universities overseas. We have consistently high standards of academic achievement in public examinations.

The wide range of co-curricular activities available at
both schools are popular across all age groups and ensure pupils are engaged,
stretched and challenged outside of the classroom. Activities include an
exceptionally varied and successful sports programme, outdoor pursuits,
Combined Cadet Force (CCF), Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, music, drama, Leiths
School of Food and Wine and debating.

In their everyday life around the school, pupils show the confidence to succeed, and the determination to give of their very best. We hope you enjoy seeing just a glimpse of school life in the following pages, and then come to visit us yourself. You'll be most welcome!
