It is an illusion that photos are made with the camera… they are made with the eye, heart, and head.

Henri Cartier-Bresson, French Photographer

Every year we have students who move on to study creative courses at university. These include art foundation, photography, interior design, architecture, graphic design and more. We guide and support the pupils with their applications and with the preparation of their portfolios for interview.

Why Study Photography?

A-level photography is a hands-on, creative course, perfect for those with a keen interest in learning how to capture exciting images that communicate their ideas visually. Pupils will explore a range of photographic media and processes to develop their technical skills as well as gaining key transferable skills that will be valuable in any workplace.

Students studying photography at A-level learn to be self-disciplined, self-critical and confident in the way they approach their work. Through theme-based projects, students study areas such as portrait photography, landscape, still life, documentary and experimental imagery. They develop and manage their own websites and learn to use Adobe Photoshop confidently.
