What is Pelican Explorers?

Pelican Explorers is our offering for pre-school aged children who enjoy having adventures with their grown-ups. We currently offer two groups, Pelican Pioneers and Pelican Playgroup, both of which provide children the opportunity to socialise and learn through child-initiated play. Whilst we suggest these sessions are more suited to children aged 3 to 4, we do have children as young as 18 months join the sessions if they are sturdy on their feet.

The Pelican Explorers programme is overseen by Mrs Claire Luckhurst. Claire is the Head of Pre-Prep at King's College Prep School and has over 20 years experience in the early years sector.

Pelican Playgroup

For those who prefer a cosier indoor environment, Pelican Playgroup sessions include Arts and Crafts activities, lots of toys to explore and a good old sing-song with instruments.

A warm cup of tea/coffee is also part of the session and one we promise you will be able to finish while it is still hot.

Pelican Pioneers

The sky is the limit for our Pelican Pioneers who, in our specially designed Forest School areas known as Little Wood and Big Wood, are able to embrace their inner-explorers. Our secluded woodlands prove the perfect playground in which children are free to enjoy activities such as den building, tree climbing, animal petting and outdoor cooking.

Activities are often themed around the seasons and special days such as Halloween. We love building campfires and have been known to toast the odd marshmallows or smores, accompanied by hot chocolate (loved by parents as well as children!). Other popular activities include (careful) pumpkin carving, autumn leaf art, woodland dogs from logs, and planting runner beans and other seasonal vegetables.

The sessions are perfect for little ones who love the great outdoors (and hot chocolate and the most delicious flapjack!)
