We understand the importance placed on school meals and the part they play in the day, diet and educational experience of our pupils.

Menus are seasonal, reflecting the best of fresh local produce and constructed to offer balance and variety.

Food is available around-the-clock, from a hearty early breakfast and packed meals for trips and outings, to high energy snacks for CCF or Ten Tors. We provide healthy, nutritious, balanced food that sustain our pupils throughout their busy days, whatever their endeavour. Standards of catering are extremely high and all dietary and/or religious needs can be met.

All pupils and staff take their meals in the dining hall with a modern servery that allows for the provision of a wide variety of choices at each meal.

Our Menu

Our menus offer a balance of favourites such as traditional roasts, but we regularly introduce new dishes influenced by current high street trends tailored to appeal to the changing tastes and palates across the age range.

For our boarding pupils, school is their home and they eat 21 meals with us each week, so we offer real variety and choice with a fun element at the weekends.

Our Catering Team

Independents by Sodexo manage the catering operations at the schools. The pupils' health, wellbeing and satisfaction is at the root of everything they do, with meals prepared daily in our kitchen by staff who are a part of the school community.

We also offer regular themed days. In recent times we have celebrated Diwali, Australia Day and offered a taste of Europe with German and Spanish days. Chinese New Year is always a firm favourite, but the impromptu Gun Powder Plot and Halloween suppers go off with a bang!

Treat Time

Underpinning everything is our ethos of ‘fresh food from scratch’. Menus are seasonal, reflecting the best of fresh local produce and constructed to offer balance and variety, providing pupils with a range of healthy options but also allowing for treats.

Typically, in dining halls we incorporate theatre cooking into the daily experience and create a warm and welcoming environment for students to enjoy their meals. Pupil views on the catering provision are expressed through the cafeteria committee.

Proud Produce

We source our food responsibly and ethically, and are proud to have long standing relationships with our suppliers. Meat and poultry can be traced back to British and Irish farms, and we only use Red Tractor certified fresh British and Irish beef, pork, lamb and poultry. We recently retained our five star status following a regular Environmental Health audit.
