Sessions scheduled throughout the academic year, designed to offer unique opportunities for young learners. Our Development Office is currently managing a number of projects that are seeking donations.
Through the regular giving of The 1880 Club members, we are able to channel necessary funds to make the wishes of pupils and staff come to life.
Working with pupils and staff, we meet regularly to discuss how we can make the King’s experience even better. Together we identify several items/areas as enhancements, which sit outside the provision of the school’s day-to-day budget. By making a donation towards these items you will have an immediate impact on the experience of our pupils. You can make a general contribution or, if you prefer, specify a particular item you would like to fund. Even a small contribution makes a huge difference.
Please take a look at our current projects below.
If you would like to make a contribution you can do so by clicking on the 'donate' button. If you would like any further details please contact Brenda Worth at BJWorth@kings-taunton.co.uk or call 01823 328184
Thank you on behalf of the whole of the King’s community.
Enhancing King's Projects Requiring Support

Mongolian Yurt
Outdoor EducationKing's College Prep
What an exciting project this is for the little people at King's College Prep School! You can easily imagine this impressive structure sitting in the wooded area providing a dry outdoor learning place which the children could use. It would also be used by the King's Prep playgroup, the Pelican Explorers and our holiday club Woodland Adventurers.

Theatre/Production Lighting Console
Performing ArtsKing's College
For ten years our pupils have been working with an older style lighting console in our theatre to create lighting designs for productions and academic drama.
This console is reaching the end of its useable life, and will soon no longer be supported by the manufacturer. Rather than replacing like-for-like, we have the opportunity to install a new console, more advanced and better suited to the LED and intelligent lighting fixtures the students will be using. This will also keep our theatre and performance spaces in line with the industry standard, future proofed. By keeping our control equipment in line with this standard, and ready for future developments, we will not only be improving the students academic and co-curricular experiences in performing arts; our students will also have the knowledge and transferable skills they need for life beyond King's. The ETC Ion XE20 is an intelligent DMX lighting console, allowing control of a huge range of theatre lighting and special effect devices. We would be able to better control our LED and moving head lights, as well as improving the way in which we design our productions and create a show.

Show Jumps
Co-CurricularKing's College and King's College Prep
Show jumps are a valuable resource for equestrian teaching and training, and they will greatly enhance the experience of our pupils. This resource can be used by both the senior and the prep school. We have two sets but need another six to have a full set of eight.

Virtual Reality Headsets
ICTKing's College Prep
There’s so much potential for bringing the curriculum to life using virtual and augmented reality experiences, from visiting far-flung corners of the world to holding the human heart in your hands.
We would like to introduce this technology into our classroom, starting with a set of eight. They will be stored in a portable, rugged storage and charging case, making sure that they are safe, secure and fully charged, ready for the children to use at any time.

Hockey Pitch Divider Pads
SportKing's College
We would love 20 pitch divider pads. We have 20 on one pitch but would dearly like 20 for the other pitch. They are hugely useful in so many ways to enhance training sessions and can be used to separate out pitch areas. We regularly use the ones we have already on scholarship days and they make the astros and training areas look very professional. During training they allow the players to get more touches on the ball during small game play so this greatly enhances the players ability to develop.

Shooting Equipment for Modern Pentathlon
SportKing's College
To give more pupils the opportunity to participate in shooting, we would like to add another pistol and target to our collection. The rapid progress with pentathlon at the school is being monitored by the Modern Pentathlon Governing Body with the aspiration of it becoming a national academy.

Thunderbolt Audio Interface with VMS Technology
Music DepartmentKing's College
We recently completed a successful upgrade of the recording studio Mac and installed a Slate Raven touchscreen interface. It would now be hugely beneficial to the growing number of students taking music technology to be able to provide high-end audio to digital conversion and a wide range of classic microphones. Slate Digital have created the VRS 8 audio interface and ML-1 modelling microphone.
This interface and microphone allow highly accurate modelling of classic microphones used by producers and mix engineers on some of music’s greatest recordings. This interface and microphone will greatly enhance the quality of recordings produced at King’s. It will provide our music technology students with the tools needed for their studies, as well as encouraging proper professional practice and high standards for all musicians at the school.

Portable Timpani
MusicKing's College
The Symphony Orchestra at King’s is now going from strength to strength and, especially now we have invited pupils from King’s College Prep and local schools to join us, is almost 50-strong. As a result, we are taking on ever more challenging repertoire and find that most pieces we now tackle require more than two timpani. We are currently rehearsing a Cuban piece that requires a percussion section of nine, and the 1812 overture. A new timpani is an investment that will last for generations, but is a surprisingly large investment even for fibre glass models.
