After being educated at Winchester College and reading at History at New College, Oxford, Roger had a 40 year career in banking which started in New York in 1980 with JPMorgan and thereafter with Cazenove & Co (later JPMorgan Cazenove), Canaccord Genuity and Peel Hunt. The majority of his time was spent in London with Cazenove & Co. where he was a partner in the corporate finance department, advising companies in the consumer sector, especially businesses in hospitality and drinks. At Canaccord Genuity, he was Chairman of Corporate broking and became more involved with financial services companies.
Now retired from the City, Roger is a non-executive director of Young & Co’s Brewery, a Trustee of Chevening, the historic estate owned by the nation, and Chairman of the Trustees of the Endowment Fund of the Imperial War Graves Commission. His interests are the countryside (walking, farming and country sports), the arts, reading (particularly history) and sport (especially cricket, tennis and skiing).
