Pedal Power – Pupils and Staff Cycle for Charity
Congratulations to our U16 rugby team. Over the weekend the boys succeeded in completing their charity event, covering a total of 900km (the length of Great Britain) on exercise bikes over a 10.5 hour period.
The main reason behind this venture was to use the collective force of teamwork for an incredibly worthwhile cause. So far, through their combined efforts, the team have raised £2,300 for Teenage Cancer Trust, with money still coming in.
Through the power and reach of social media, the mental health sports organisation Sporting Minds UK became aware of our event and offered to support the boys throughout the day.
Taking part in the event were:
Joe Eakhurst, Toby Pattemore, Dominic Frampton, Tom Small, Charles B-Webb, Will Serrell-Cooke, Harry Bishop, Sam Geddes, Oliver Luxton, Charlie Reehal, Aubrey Lindsay-Smith, Ben Davies, Josh Couch, James Rew, George Thomas, Charlie Sharland, Oliver Dummett, Terry Siu, Tim Roberts, Oliver Baines, Will Hopkins, Max Cooper-Simpson and Oliver Wrelton.
The team were supported by staff and pupils who made crucial contributions to the cause during their guest slots:
Sam Florey, Rhys Llewellyn, Ben Thomas and Charlie Speyer.
George Small, Max Clements, Steff Crimp, Craig Yammin, Mia Ghia, Meg Jourdain, Anastasia Woodard, Alex Cunningham, Eddie Steedman, Dhruv Shokeen, Fabian Bart, Patrick Tsang, Jack Wong, Jacob Wakeling, Charlie Board, Josh Thomas, Matthew Serrell-Cooke and Andrew Lia
Commenting, organiser, chemistry teacher and rugby coach Dafydd Jones said:
“The boys have done incredibly well, smashing the allocated time target of 12 hours by a massive 1.5 hours. Their energy levels and enthusiasm to drive each other on was inspiring and they should be so proud of their efforts.”
