One World Together – Raising Funds for UNICEF
Our School Chaplain, Father Mark, recently set up a fundraising initiative to help those in the less developed world gain access to Covid-19 vaccinations.
Covid-19 has affected everyone around the world, with a great number of people having shown incredible kindness during the pandemic, through foodbanks, providing equipment to assist online learning, and helping neighbours with supermarket shopping and the collection of prescriptions etc.
In spite all the hardships of the lockdowns, hope arrived as the first people were invited to attend vaccination clinics, and as the rollout began in January, we knew everyone in the UK would eventually be immunised.
Our thoughts soon turned to those living in less developed countries, without access to adequate and free medical care.
As a result, Father Mark set up a Just Giving page, ‘One World Together’, to help us demonstrate our gratitude and concern by reaching out to our neighbours in the developing world who need support.
On Friday 7 May our Home Clothes Day kickstarted our fundraising efforts. This week a massive £1775 will be winging its way to UNICEF, who have vast experience of delivering vaccinations across the world. Working in partnership with the WHO and other organisations, their aim is to help deliver Covid-19 vaccinations across the world.
Commenting, Father Mark said:
“I am so proud of the King’s Schools community living out our common values of compassion and care in a world where the poor always seem to suffer most. The Covid-19 pandemic has shone a light on this recently.”
