Matt Dawson Visits King's College
There was a perceptible buzz of excitement this week at King’s College as we welcomed former England Rugby scrum-half and World Cup winner Matt Dawson, who in his role as an ambassador for Sodexo, helps raise awareness of health and well-being issues.
He has a keen interest in culinary development and food; in 2006, he won BBC Celebrity Masterchef and published his own cookbook, following his Royal Television Society nominated food show ‘Mitch & Matt’, which was shown on UK Food.
Two groups from King's College and a ‘highly’ enthusiastic group from King’s Hall listened intently as Matt spoke about topics such as choosing the right foods, hydration and preparation for sports matches.
Questions were fired back, including many about eating the right foods, but some of course about his involvement in the 2003 Rugby World Cup and England’s success. After the talks, Matt signed books, rugby balls and spoke to the pupils about life at King’s.
Commenting on his visit, Matt said: “As part of my role as a Sodexo Ambassador, one of the things I enjoy the most is getting out to schools and talking to the pupils about health and well-being, particularly food and nutrition and how that links to elite performance.”
