King's Artists Receive Offers from the Prestigious UAL
Two of our Upper Sixth art students, Jamie S and Jago S have both recently been offered places at the prestigious and world-renowned University of the Arts London (UAL). Jamie has been accepted at London College of Communication to study photography and Jago will study graphic communication design at Central St Martins.
The strength of the boy's applications was not only due to their impressive A level work, but also the commitment they have shown for their subject outside of the classroom through gallery visits, wider reading and most importantly, their own creative work.
Jamie has been building his own portfolio of photography, with several competition wins under his belt and in 2020, a shoot for Paria Farzaneh at London Fashion week. Jago has developed an interest in typography and branding and has entered live design briefs as well as teaching himself how to use 3D rendering and virtual reality software.
Our Head of Art, Clare Schmidt, herself a practising artist, said: "I am very excited that these two incredibly creative and motivated boys will now have the opportunity to continue their studies and gain a world-class creative education. UAL is known for its innovative, entrepreneurial and boundary pushing approach and will be a fantastic springboard for Jamie and Jago to pursue their careers in the creative industries."
