King Alfred Get Creative with Colour for Holi
Last month our school grounds were barely recognisable as King’s Alfred’s Holi Festival erupted in a cloud of colourful smoke that floated across the front square.
This year, the boys’ boarding house hosted their very own vibrant Holi Festival against the backdrop of the main school building. The colourful affair saw pupils raise over £500 for Railway Children, an international charity that supports disadvantaged children in the UK and India.
Holi, the Hindu festival of colour, celebrates love, friendship and the victory of good over evil. The celebration also marks the beginning of spring.
Pupils from King Alfred joined staff and friends from other houses for the occasion. With the gates opening promptly at 7pm, everyone enjoyed an evening of music and dancing amidst the multi-coloured clouds of paint powder.
Throughout the night there were four DJ sets, all playing a variety of music, with a couple of special guest appearances from staff members, that included Mr Shaw and Mr Short.
The event was a huge success and our school community had a thoroughly entertaining evening while raising money for a worthwhile cause.
