King’s Recruits New Sports Performance Coaches
Ahead of what will be another action packed sporting year, King’s College Taunton and King’s Hall have recently recruited some highly qualified and experienced sports performance coaches to further enhance what is already a thriving sports programme.
Part of the recruitment process is to also enhance the schools provision across both campuses so that the quality but also the consistency of provision is top class.
New additions to the sports performance coaching staff include Katie Rogers (netball across both schools, hockey, athletics and S&C), Alex Barrow (Cricket and rugby coach across both schools), Sean-Michael Campleman (King’s Hall hockey, cricket), Laura Bennett (hockey across both schools) Lyndsey Hollands (swimming across both schools), Ben Thomas (rugby across both schools, hockey, athletics and S&C coach), Tim Drew (Head of squash and tennis coach) and Rhys Llewellyn (Head of S&C at King’s College, hockey and athletics).
Director of Sport Phil Lewis comments: “I have been working very closely with both Headmaster’s at King’s College and King’s Hall to ensure that we continue to provide a top coaching provision to all of our pupils. These recent appointments will continue to help us deliver this.
“I am really delighted that we are not only improving our main games coaching programme but that we now have a Head of Strength and Conditioning who is overseeing a team of three S&C coaches, helping us to move forward with a programme that will especially help those pupils who want to push their sport as part of our new high performance programme.
“I am also really pleased with the fantastic work that Lyndsey Hollands (Head of swimming) has started. We are now helping King’s Hall with their swimming provision throughout the year and also further enhancing the swimming programme here at King’s College.
“It’s great to welcome back Alex Barrow OA who played cricket for Somerset for a few years after he finished at King’s and to also have Katie Rogers joining us to help enhance our girls’ netball programme. Katie has just finished her PE PGCE at Exeter University.
“Sean-Michael Campleman has also been a great addition at King’s Hall and has already gained considerable success with developing the hockey programme there. It is a really exciting time, especially with the amazing new sports facilities we have”.
