Hospital Role-play for Third Form French Pupils
Nineteen Third Form pupils took a trip to A&E recently as Mrs Duckham transformed her classroom into the emergency department of a French hospital.
Not a word of English was spoken as the busy receptionists welcomed poorly patients, many of whom were suffering from ailments including concussions, chicken pox, nut allergies and broken ankles.
Everyone took part in the role-play activity, which was an informal assessment of the Healthy Living Unit pupils had studied in previous weeks.
Hospital background music, complete with a dedicated waiting area and treatment rooms, created a fun and friendly atmosphere in which the pupils could test out their French speaking skills and build confidence in the process.
Using the latest medical technologies, the doctors were soon able to fix up their patients, and miraculously, everyone recovered in time for 5th period science.
