Drama Scholars Welcome Guests to the King's Hotel
Strangely farcical goings-on were in store for guests who checked in to the King’s Hotel recently, as our drama scholars delighted audiences with their end-of-term production, Inside King’s on South Road.
Inspired by the darkly comical BBC series, Inside No. 9, the pupils transformed the school into a lavish hotel, where guests were treated to a delicious two-course meal and three mini-plays.
Each skit was performed at a different venue across the hotel, ranging from the school theatre to the main reception. The interactive production covered a number of topics, including mistaken identities, broken families and relationship strains. There was also a live hedgehog, which certainly took the audience by surprise!
Before the event, writer and star of the BBC anthology, Reece Shearsmith took to twitter to wish our scholars good luck and hinted that were he not be performing on Broadway, he would have loved to attend.
Head of Drama, Harriet Agg-Manning said: “I was extremely proud of the cast for performing with such flair and superb comic timing. We now look forward to preparing for our next production.”
