Alexandra Surfs the Crest of Success
Fourth Form pupil, Alexandra H took to the surf over the October half term and competed in the English National Championships in Cornwall.
Originally scheduled for the spring, the junior shortboard events were held recently at Great Western Beach in Newquay on a windy day in powerful surf.
Each heat was 15 minutes long with each surfer judged on their commitment and execution, difficulty of manoeuvres, speed, power and flow. Up against the best U14 girl surfers in the country, Alexandra advanced smoothly through the heats to the four-girl final, where some good scores were recorded.
Saving her best wave of the day for last, Alexandra moved up into second place with just a minute to go, to crown a really impressive day. This is testament to her hard work and dedication throughout the summer to improve her surfing skills, and she's already looking forward to getting back on the water at the soonest opportunity!
