Our pupil Josh T has just returned to school after playing at Lord’s Cricket Ground – the home of the English summer game.

The 16-year-old all-rounder was playing for the English Schools Cricket Association (ESCA) in a 50 over match against MCC Schools.

Josh is a top order batsman who also bowls left arm spin. He is on the Academy and made his Somerset Second XI debut earlier this season.

He has enjoyed a successful summer playing for the school, Somerset Under 16s and Taunton St Andrews, who he has helped to win the Baker Cup and promotion back to WEPL Premier One.

The young all-rounder was also selected as a reserve for the current England Under 19 series of One Day Internationals against their West Indies counterparts.

Josh’s 17-year-old brother George, also one of our pupils, is on the Somerset Academy and is currently playing in the England Under 19 series. Earlier this summer he made his debut for the county in the Royal London One Day Cup game against Leicestershire in which he scored 75.

Recent former pupils who have featured in the ESCA v MCC Schools games include Tom Banton, Craig Meschede and James Regan.

Both Josh and George have been members of our Under 18 side who have enjoyed such a successful summer in 2021.
