Buckets of Cash for Charity Buskers
Last month, two talented Fourth Form musicians from King’s College, Taunton took their musical skills all the way to Cornwall for a spot of busking in aid of Children’s Hospice South West.
Tim Roberts from Truro and Ollie Baines from Taunton are friends at the school and had the idea of doing something to raise money for charity over the summer.
Both pupils are actively involved in the performing arts scene at King’s and were able to showcase their skills on the quayside in Padstow.
Commenting, Tim said:
“We had planned to do some busking over the summer prior to choosing a charity. During the school term Oli and I took part in a charitable swim event for 'Together for Short Lives' run by the King’s Lower 6th. The event inspired us to do our bit over the summer holidays.”
He added: “With the idea of busking already in mind we decided to dedicate the money we might raise from our busking experience to a similar local charity. We chose Children's Hospice South West. We picked Padstow as our stage because it is not only lovely in the summer, but it is packed with tourists. It was a bonus for us was that Padstow has designated busking areas!”
The boys were overwhelmed when they finally counted up their donations – they had collected a whopping £606.22 in their collection buckets!!
