Educated at King’s College, Roger studied History at Leeds University, achieving his PhD on Richard II in 1970 and then returned to King’s College to become the Deputy Headmaster. For a few years, Roger’s position combined the role of Director of Studies and running a boarding house. He was involved in all aspects of school life, including the finances of the school, planning and implementation of future projects and the organisation of major events.
Since retiring in 2003, Roger has become the President of the Old Aluredian club and has researched the history of the Mott, Fenwick and Kynaston families, publishing four books, including ‘In a Quiet Sort of Way’, in 2006. He enjoys walking in the Somerset, Devon and Northumbrian countryside.
