List of EventsSpace to Breathe
"King’s is a big piece of 'rural' hidden in the middle of a town, full of wonderful spaces to breathe."
One of the most important (and possibly worrisome) tasks of any parent is choosing the right school for your child. It isn’t just a question of admiring the buildings or asking about exams; childhood is about much more than that. At King’s, we can remove that worry as children have the space to breathe, discover their passions and develop into well-rounded, happy young adults.

Joining King's at 11
When it comes to the move to ‘big school’ at age 11, many parents assume that the best choice is to progress straight to a senior school that has an 11+ intake and runs all the way to age 16 or 18.
In our two-site model, pupils joining at 11 begin in the more intimate atmosphere of King's College Prep School, where they find their feet before moving at 13 to our senior school, King’s College.

For those joining us at 13, we hold a number of events ahead of Michaelmas Term, to help pupils get to know the school a little better, to help them prepare for the term ahead, and to enable them to make new friends and meet their houseparents and tutors.
In the first few days of the new school term, each new pupil has a buddy and a tutor, both of whom will be there to help them find their feet as they navigate through the two-week induction process.
In the Third Form all pupils take a wide range of subjects, including design technology, music, drama and PE. All pupils are offered the option of a second foreign language (German or Spanish), and it is also possible to take Latin.

Many pupils decide to join King's at 16. Sixth Form years can be the most exciting period in a person’s education. Pupils study subjects of their choice, and they study these subjects to a greater depth. They can follow their own lines of thought while working closely with teachers and peers. There is no other time when there is so much potential for being influenced by new ideas. Often pupils arrive with one career in mind and leave with a completely different plan, having been inspired by an experience or a person at school.
