Professor Coral Dando returned to education in 2002 following almost 10 years service as a London Police Officer. Coral completed a BSc (Hons) Psychology in 2005 at Kingston University London, and a PhD in Applied Forensic Cognition, awarded by London South Bank University in 2008 for her thesis entitled 'The cognitive interview: The development and efficacy of a modified procedure for frontline police officers'.
Coral secured a Post-Doctoral Research post working with Professor Ray Bull at the University of Leicester on the EPSRC funded 'Raising challenges to deception using data scent trails' project. In late 2009, she became a Lecturer in the Department of Psychology at Lancaster University, moving to the Institute of Psychology at the University of Wolverhampton in 2014 to take up a Readership position. Coral was awarded a Chair in Psychology in 2015, and joined the University of Westminster as a Professor of Psychology in August 2016. Since completing her PhD, Coral's research has attracted over 2 million pounds of external funding from the UK, European, and US governments, of which over 1 million pounds has been awarded to Coral as Principal Investigator.
