Girls' tennis
Tennis is a popular option with girls in the Summer term, and we have had considerable success in recent years, with the 1st team enjoying unbeaten seasons in the past. We have excellent tennis facilities, with nine hard courts (three courts are available throughout the year) and 24 astro turf courts. A coaching programme runs throughout the summer, with girls playing fixtures on Wednesdays and Saturdays, and training twice a week.
Pupils also have the option of further private coaching outside games time in the Summer term and in the off season. We also run pre-season training in the Lent term and in the Easter holidays.
We play against a large number of independent schools, the furthest away being Canford. We field as many teams as the opposition can provide, which is usually 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, U15A, U15B, U14A and U14B, and sometimes even C teams.
The coaching programme caters for players of all abilities, from the most able to players with little experience. Everyone is encouraged to play and improve their tennis, and our girls are coached by a visiting tennis coach and the King's games staff. The aim of the programme is to develop shot making, tactics, an understanding of the game, and to have fun! We also run school singles and doubles tournaments, house events, and competitions for pupils and parents.
