Shakespeare on the London Eye

Six actors from King's recently performed an excerpt from a Shakespeare play in a pod on the London Eye. Their performance was part of a special day to launch the new 'Transformation Trust', an initiative organised by the Schools' Shakespeare Festival. King's was one of just five schools in the country to be chosen for this honour. The third and fourth form actors performed a scene from 'Much Ado about Nothing' in front of an audience in the pod consisting of potential benefactors of the SSF.

The opportunity arose from our success in last year's festival at Weston-super Mare's Playhouse Theatre, where our performance was described as "the best performance of The Winter's Tale I have seen in the eight years these festivals have been running" by the Deputy Director of the Shakespeare Schools' Foundation, Penelope Middleboe.

The six actors were Francesca Fender, Greg Albery, Sam Matthews, Archie Watts, Bryony House and Charlotte Smyth. They were directed by Dr Brian Lewis, with assistant director Oscar Harding.
