Girls Tennis v Taunton School

This was a tough, competitive fixture which certainly tested the determination and mental toughness of our girls as they were repeatedly put under pressure. So it was particularly pleasing for the seniors to win three out of their four matches. The 1st VI had a rollercoaster of an afternoon. In the end we kept our cool, winning all of the final sets. It was an excellent performance from Kathleen Sondern and Charis Elphinstone, who won two out of their sets in the 6-3 win. It was the same winning scoreline from the 2nds, for whom Jossie Zilkha and Milla Bell played particularly well on their 2nd VI debut, winning their first two sets.

Taunton School fielded a very strong 3rds which we found hard to deal with, but there was some excellent tennis played, with many games going to deuce. Despite their convincing 8-1 winning scoreline, the 4ths were up against good opposition, and the girls enjoyed the longer rallies which tested their full range of tennis shots.

Towards the end of term, the juniors played their matches against Taunton School. The Under 15s won 6-3, with some excellent serving and good net play. It was a very pleasing result, with some close, competitive matches. New partnerships in the Bs worked incredibly well, resulting in a solid 7-2 win - an excellent way to finish the season.

The Under 14s had a disappointing result, but there were some good individual performances, and much encouragement for next season. The Bs though had a fantastic result, finishing their season with a brilliant and thoroughly deserved 9-0 win!
