Girls Tennis v Sherborne
The 1st VI were the only senior team in action this weekend, and first pair Hattie Cunningham and Jodie Burrows struggled at first to adapt their game to grass, but they recovered strongly to win two of their sets. The grass was much more suited to Louise Webber's game, and she played extremely well with Heather McKenzie. On her 1st team debut Milla Bell forged a strong partnership with Kathleen Sondern, winning two of their sets comfortably. Overall this was an extremely close match which went down to the last game, but Hattie and Jodie coped well with the pressure, winning their final set 6-4.Superb play for the Under 15s from Tory Clark and Charlotte Palmer ensured an excellent 5-4 win. They read each other's positioning well, and played aggressive and determined tennis, while Hermione Warmington and Amelia Evans played well to win two of their sets. Megan Ameye and Hennie Thomson played well again for the Bs, winning two out of their three sets against tough opposition. In a rare outing for the Cs, Annabel Lumley played some strong rallies, and Lucy Dunham played with focus and moved around the court well.
The Under 14s struggled against a very good Sherborne team. There were some close games though, and Charlie Webb and Flo Main played particularly well. A strong B team had us under pressure for much of the afternoon, but it was an enjoyable fixture.
