Cricket v Taunton School

Three excellent middle-order partnerships allowed the 1st XI to post a more than useful 254 for 8, Nick Evans (50) and Todd Barrett (66) rebuilding our innings, and a superb 52 not out from Ed Kean giving us late momentum. Some inspired bowling and fielding ensured that Taunton School went from a comfortable 168 for 3 to 178 for 9 in a very short period. The 2nds put on a positive batting display, but wickets fell regularly as we were bowled out for 200, Jamie Grantham top-scoring with 50. Taunton made a positive start, but a particularly good spell from Luke Gavin limited them to 178. Oli Dent took two wickets in the first over for the 3rds, as Taunton were all out for 74 in the 15th over, Chris Griffiths finishing with 5 for 17. In reply Oli Dent started explosively, and Will Griffiths led us home in the 14th over - a resounding conclusion to a great season.

The Junior Colts bowled with accuracy to restrict Taunton School to 141, James Jennings the pick of the bowlers with four wickets, supported by some agile fielding. James then batted patiently for his 72, as Oliver Gibb and Matt Harden set up victory with ten overs to spare. Unfortunately the Bs lost, despite a useful 25 from Lewis Morris and some accurate bowling by Joe Dalton.

Taunton 's Under 14s batted with skill and purpose to post 217, Archie Watts turning the game in our favour with a fine spell of 4 for 30. We then chased with great maturity and control, Laurence May leading the way with an excellent 104 not out, and Matt Richards playing some exciting shots too in his unbeaten 50, as we reached our target with just two wickets down and six overs to spare. The Bs bowled well but dropped too many catches, and Taunton's 192 was just too many, despite some sensible batting. In a Twenty20 game the Cs scored 141, and went on to win by 36 runs, thanks to some brilliant bowling by Kelvin Choi.
