Lara wins prestigious DT award
Lara Clark has become the fourth King’s pupil to receive the prestigious Arkwright Scholarship for design and technology. Scholars are chosen following a rigorous selection process comprising an application, Arkwright Aptitude paper and interviews held at universities across the UK. During interviews pupils presented their GCSE project work to a panel of interviewers, demonstrating a commitment to design, engineering and technology. Only 240 scholarships have been awarded this year. The Arkwright Trust was founded in 1990 and supports young people during their A Levels, assisting with the purchase of books and materials. King’s design and technology department will also receive an annual sum for two years. Lara’s scholarship will be formally presented at a ceremony hosted by The Institution of Engineering and Technology, London, in October, where she will have the opportunity to meet her sponsor.
This accolade for the design and technology department follows the news that King’s was recently awarded its fourth consecutive Good Schools Guide A Level Award for D&T Product Design. Once again King’s is recognised as being the best school in the country for design and technology A Level.
