Girls Tennis v Wellington
For the second week running, our girls tennis players recorded a clean sweep over local rivals - this week it was Wellington who suffered a whitewash. Our young 1st VI dominated throughout to win 8-1, with Alex Taylor and Holly Domellof remaining unbeaten since last year, and Hattie Cunningham and Jodie Burrows playing some great tennis to win their matches 6-3, 6-2, 6-0.The 2nds enjoyed a closer game, before running out 6-3 winners. There were long rallies in all the matches, while Mel Palmer and Katie Vickers had a real battle in their final game, eventually winning the tie-break 10-8. The 3rds were far too strong for the opposition, with Isabel Petri playing particularly well in her first game for the 3rds. She and Freya Broughton won all their games, while Harriet Butterfield and Caroline Lloyd continued their unbeaten run from last week, dropping only two games.
It was a close affair for the Under 15s, with lots of long sets and deuce points. Finishing 5-4 winners overall reflected the tremendous effort put in to the afternoon by the whole team. An excellent debut from Laura Smith contributed to a 6-3 win for the Bs. She and partner Olivia Taylor managed not to drop a set all afternoon.
The Under 14s won 5-4, with Tori Clark and Hebe Mills continuing their unbeaten run from last week. The Bs won 6-3, largely thanks to the excellent partnership between Megan Ameye and Kitty McIntosh who won all three of their sets. Overall this was another superb afternoon for the girls tennis club.
