Swimming v Wellington

This was a tough fixture to start the season - last year Wellington beat us by over thirty points and eventually went on to win all the Meade King silverware. So it was a surprising but well-deserved win for the King's swim team, and an ideal start for the season. Key performances for the
boys came from captain Nick de Figueiredo who won the senior 50m backstroke, Ali Taylor winning the 50m freestyle and Tim Foden the 25m butterfly. Tom Parris won all three of his individual races, and Freddie Barker claimed a valuable 2nd place in the backstroke.
The girls especially were up against tough opposition, but senior swimmers Katie Vickers, Alex Parris, Hannah Little, Lizzie Raleigh and Lizzie Scanlan gained valuable points for their efforts. Top performances from juniors Felicity Perris and Lucy Chapman were just enough to hold on and finally beat the Wellington team after many years of frustration, 145 points to 142.
