Girls Tennis v Clifton
The 1st VI came up against very strong opposition who played a pace of game we are just not used to. Credit to everyone for playing with a sense of purpose and pride. The 2nds lost a very close affair. Danielle Taylor and Heather McKenzie won their first two sets in brilliant fashion, but then suffered a dramatic loss of form in the final set. The 3rds battled hard and pushed Clifton in every game, but just missed out on the big points. The new pairing of Annabel John and Sarah Gardener was a revelation with two really good wins, coming back from 2-5 down to win their first set 7-5.The Under 15s were in awesome and clinical form, with Clifton taking only six games out of the 60 played! Four sets were won to love, and Holly Domellof and Alex Taylor dropped only one game all afternoon. It was a comfortable win for the Bs too. Rebecca Turner and Emma Clyde-Smith were once again the stand-out pairing, not dropping a set all afternoon, and battling really hard in one match to win 7-5.
It was a very harsh scoreline for the Under 14s, considering many sets and games went right down to the wire. Hattie Mason and Mira Bell ran their opposition close, and all the pairs showed great determination and spirit. With Clifton desperate to give their Bs some competitive tennis, injury and other sports commitments reduced our own squad to just a single pair! Alice Konstam and Alice Brooksbank played against all three Clifton pairs, winning one set 6-0, and taking four games off their first pair.
