Girls Tennis v Blundell's
After just one hit session the previous day, the 1st VI took a while to warm up, and got stronger and stronger as we progressed through the rounds. First pair Charlotte Butterfield and Louise Webber won 7-5 against their equivalent pair in a superb display of battling tennis. The 2nds won convincingly - a really positive start from lots of new pairings. Danielle Taylor and Heather McKenzie were the pick of the bunch, winning all three of their matches. It was another winning start for the 3rds, and a great display of how to enjoy your tennis by everyone involved. All pairs won at least one set, but the combinations of Maddie Hinch and Sarah Gardener, and Alice Clarkson and Annabel John both won two from three. It was something of a harsh result for the 4ths, as many games could easily have gone either way. Everyone really bought into the spirit of the afternoon - the combination of Di Hobbs, something of a stranger to the tennis court, and Tess Bloomfield was certainly worth watching!
A whitewash for the Under 15s showed the value of their pre-season warm weather training in Portugal. An impressive display by all. The Bs too had a comfortable victory, with all pairs working well and producing a high quality display. Proving that we have real depth at this age, Emma Clyde-Smith and Rebecca Taylor were the stand-out pairing.
A close match for the Under 14s highlighted areas that require work. Hattie Mason and Kate Taylor were the stand-out pairing, winning two from three.
