Cricket v Wellington
Having lost several fixtures to rain, the 1st XI bowlers bowled a generous line and length, but still restricted Wellington to 113 for 5 off their 30 overs. Our batsmen never looked in trouble, Jos Buttler and Will Webster top-scoring, with Kabir Kohli and Ross Chadwick seeing us home. The 3rd XI played Wellington's 2nds, and soon had them in trouble with quick wickets. Jack Graham made two excellent stumpings as Wellington slumped to 92 all out. In reply James Yeabsley scored an aggressive 58 not out, finishing with a flurry of boundaries.
The Junior Colts bowled disappointingly, though Will Hardwick and Richard Elliott again bowled tidily, restricting Wellington to 126. We chased the total down in only 16 overs, with Miles Lenygon (58) batting beautifully, and Alex Barrow (48 not out) providing excellent support. The Bs bowled Wellington out for 93, with Kelvin Chan taking 3 for 8. We chased impressively to record an excellent win by 7 wickets.
Dominic Bracher set the tone early on for the Under 14s with an excellent 48, before George Wayman and Joe Watts upped the tempo, reaching 172 for 6 in 30 overs. Some fine catching by Sam Merriweather and Jamie Grantham ensured Wellington were never really in the hunt, being bowled out off the last ball of their 30 overs for 110. The Bs had an amazing 173-run victory! George Lang (84), Henry Close (71) and Hikaru Ichikawa (36 not out) saw us to 223 for 6. Excellent bowling by Alex Dathan, Hikaru again and Will Gerwat dismissed Wellington for 50.
